Australian Capital TerritoryThe main part of the Australian Capital Territory, containing the National Capital, is located in south-eastern New South Wales. It is the only state in Australia that does not have a coastline. It lies approximately half way between Sydney and Melbourne. It has an area of 2,400 sq km of rolling plains and grasslands. It has a population of just over 300,000 people, most of whom live in the capital, Canberra.
